      - Every spring semester, over 50 junior and senior students from Georgia's public and private universities and colleges intern with the Georgia General Assembly. These students gain first-hand experience in the lawmaking process through the Georgia Legislative Internship Program (GLIP). The GLIP was created in the 1970s under the leadership of then Lt. Governor Zell Miller and is a paid internship opportunity coordinated by the Georgia General Assembly.

Rep. Stephens says state won't introduce bill to dissolve Port Wentworth yet

Georgia State Rep. Ron Stephens drafted a bill that if passed, would dissolve the city of Port Wentworth, making it a part of unincorporated Chatham County. After meeting with the interim city manager and city attorney Wednesday, Stephens said they've been convinced to give them a chance to do things right.
