      - Every spring semester, over 50 junior and senior students from Georgia's public and private universities and colleges intern with the Georgia General Assembly. These students gain first-hand experience in the lawmaking process through the Georgia Legislative Internship Program (GLIP). The GLIP was created in the 1970s under the leadership of then Lt. Governor Zell Miller and is a paid internship opportunity coordinated by the Georgia General Assembly.

Councilman Elton Alexander hosts 8th annual Women's History event

The recognition is an honor for Barber as she continues in her efforts as a member of the Stockbridge City Council. Her achievements for the 2023 year began with a Certificate of Excellence from the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute, a cooperative effort of GMA and the University of Georgia's Carl Vinson Institute of Government, which she accepted in January during the Georgia Municipal Association's Cities United Summit in Atlanta.

Two Ringgold City Council members, Mayor Pro Tem Kelly Bomar and Councilwoman Rhonda Swaney, have earned certificates from the Harold F. Holtz Training Institute, a cooperative effort of the Georgia Municipal Association and the University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute of Government.
